St Catherine of Siena (if I remember correctly what I read) - also said this of Our Lord.

On another occasion when kneeling before her crucifix she expressed this desire saying: “How happy should I be, my dear Lord, if Thou would imprint in me the likeness of Thy sufferings.” “That I mean to do,” replied our Lord, “provided you do not resist Me, and that on your part you do what you can.” ³ [http://fsspx.com/Communicantes/Jun2004/Salvation_Trust_Thee.htm#2B]

During her novitiate our Lord inspired her to ask for humiliations. He said to her: “Acknowledge then that you can do nothing without Me. My assistance shall never be wanting to you provided that you do always keep your own weakness and nothingness buried in My strength.” ⁵

Unsatisfied with the hardships of convent life, St. Margaret Mary wanted to do more penance. Sometimes she did so without receiving her Superior’s permission, and our Lord appeared to reprove her severely for this: “You deceive yourself,” He said to her, “in thinking to please Me by practicing this kind of mortification chosen by self-will, which would rather have the will of Superiors bend before it than bend itself. Know that I … abhor self-will in a religious.”¹⁵ This lesson made such an impression on her that she resolved to practice the most exact obedience.

SACRED HEART OF JESUS, SALVATION OF THOSE WHO TRUST IN THEE…

I found this online and as today is a Friday, feast of St Fidelis of Sigmaringen, and Fridays are dedicated to Christ's Passion and His Sacred Heart, here is a beautiful reminder of His Sacred Heart revealing Himself to St Margaret Mary Alacoque at Paray-le-Monial, France:

The Promises of the Sacred Heart 1. “I will give them all the graces necessary in their state of life.” 2. “I will establish peace in their homes.” 3. “I will comfort them in their afflictions.” 4. “I will be their secure refuge during life, and above all in death.” 5. “I will bestow a large blessing upon all their undertakings.” 6. “Sinners shall find in My Heart the source and the infinite ocean of mercy.” 7. “Tepid souls shall grow fervent.” 8. “Fervent souls shall quickly mount to high perfection.” 9. “I will bless every place where a picture of My Heart shall be set up and honored.” 10. “I will give priests the gift of touching the most hardened hearts.” 11. “Those who shall promote this devotion shall have their names written in My Heart, never to be blotted out.” 12. “I promise you in the excessive mercy of My Heart that My all-powerful love will grant to all those who communicate on the First Friday in nine consecutive months, the grace of final penitence; they shall not die in My disgrace nor without receiving the Sacraments; My Divine Heart shall be their safe refuge in this last moment.”

The most important one was the revelation received in June 1675, when Christ showed her His Heart, saying,

Behold this Heart which has so loved men, that it has spared nothing, even to exhausting and consuming itself in order to testify to its love. In return, I have received from the greater part only ingratitude, by their irreverence and their sacrilege, and by the coldness and contempt they have for Me in this sacrament of Love.

 

Christ asked for a special feast to be established in honor of His Heart, on which men would receive Holy Communion and make reparation by making honorable amends. In return, He explained to His confidente,

I promise thee that My Heart shall expand Itself to shed in abundance the influence of Its divine love upon those who shall thus honor It and cause It to be honored.

 

After becoming Novice Mistress, St. Margaret Mary worked to communicate this love for the Sacred Heart to the souls entrusted to her. She died in the odor of sanctity on October 17, 1690, at the age of 43, with the name of Jesus on her lips.

The process to heal and soothe a very tired soul is also a very tiring and trying process, but the fruit of this whole process is sweet and it is made so much easier because we know that we have an infinitely loving Heart who is always with us, whose LOVE is so great, one can subsist inside of this great love and be so content and so fully reassured.

One day, St. Catherine of Sienna asked Our Lord why He allowed His side to be opened. The Divine Master gave the saint His goal:

“The principal goal I had in mind was to reveal to men the secret of My Heart in order that they might understand that My love is even greater than the exterior signs I give of it; for while there is an end to My sufferings, there is no end to My love.

 

How shall we study the Heart of Jesus? How shall we obtain this knowledge? Ah! For anyone who knows the mysterious depths of all the evangelical facts, there is a mystery here. It is that we only find Jesus with Mary and through Mary; we only obtain a sure knowledge of the Son through His Mother.

Indeed, who better knew Jesus than Mary, His Mother? Therefore, who better than she can teach us to know Him?

A mother knows not only the exterior features, the face, and the gait of her son; she knows him through and through, she penetrates into the deepest corners of his heart, she guesses his most intimate thoughts, and even his most secret desires. That is how Mary knew Jesus. She studied Him both with a sentiment of motherly tenderness and respectful admiration as her Son and as her God. She kept all His words in her heart and drew her inspiration from the spirit of all His works.

No one knew as well as Mary the interior life of Jesus that Scripture calls the life of the heart, that is to say, the true life. Our Lady of the Sacred Heart! Yes, truly, o Mary, this name belongs to you; for this adorable heart was transparent for you, you read openly in all its thoughts, movements, and sentiments. What am I saying? Your Heart was the mirror in which all the traits of your Son’s Heart were reflected. To reveal the Heart of Jesus to us, you have only to reveal your own (Cardinal Pie).

Please don't forget that you are not only saved by the blood of Jesus, but that blood of Jesus is complimented by the tears of Mary. Would you believe that? Mary cried for us at the Cross, will she still abandon us in our problems? No! That is why she is the Mother of Perpetual Help. Jesus and Mary (are) not very far away from us. They are only a prayer away from us.

My dearest Jesus, I love You very much!

I haven't had too much time to write here lately and there's this pile of marking still smiling at me. I rather gaze at and admire real beautiful towering snow laden peaks and savour the hard work due to the climb/descent... but, like hiking up / down a mountain, marking has given me some insight into their thoughts and I can't help but wonder at some beautiful pieces of work and marvel also at some, er, not so beautiful pieces of work. 

I couldn't resist posting this. I remember some beautiful conversations about dearest crucified Jesus and I want to remember them (Deo gratias et Mariae):

Thank you my dearest Jesus, for enduring this crown of thorns for us. Words cannot express how much I am in debt of to you, after I realised what this crown of thorns must have done to you and what it means for me, for us... 

Dr Zugibe said that the crowning of thorns was perhaps the most painful pain since it seriously wounded the trigeminal nerve which is like an electric wire…

The trigeminal nerve is the largest cranial nerve and is the great sensory nerve of the head and face, and the motor nerve of the muscles of mastication.

The thorns, affecting the Trigeminal nerve, the 5th cranial nerve and it is the main nerve of the face responsible for sensation (e.g. heat and pain). The 3rd attachment shows clearly where the trigeminal nerve innervates the face (with the different colours). Note that every region of the face is innervated by the trigeminal nerve, top of head, nose, mouth, sides of face, cheeks etc (!) This means that every time Jesus spoke, it must have been very very painful - like many electric shocks(!)

It is really really wonderful that Jesus managed to speak at all throughout His passion (after scourging, talking to P.Pilate, way of the cross a few times, on the cross (7 times!!) amidst all the other pains caused by all the other tortures Jesus had to go through: scourging, carrying the cross, removal of thorns and putting it back on, the actual crucifixion. This makes all of Jesus's words during his Passion really really really precious!

Here, the SEVEN, the words that sparkled faith throughout the whole world! 

"Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" (How can anyone forgive the people who so horribly torture you?)

"Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise" (I am so much looking forward to be in paradise with Jesus and Mother Mary!!!...)

"Woman, behold your son, son, behold your mother" (Dearest Mother Mary!)

"Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani..." (Very eloquent words that everyone says whenever suffering, but when Jesus said it, he was not "giving up on God", but when we say it, we sometimes mean "Why God, why did you do this to me?")

"I thirst!" (Jesus thirsts for souls to come to him and drink at his fountain)

"It is finished." (His whole Passion for the salvation of mankind)

"Father, into your hands I commend my spirit." (to His Father in heaven, Jesus gives His self to His father)

Most precious words! 

And a prayer for Catholic priests, who are alter Christus (pl. Christi?) 

O Jesus, eternal Priest,

keep Thy priests within the shelter

of Thy Sacred Heart, where none may touch them.

Keep unstained their anointed hands, which daily touch Thy Sacred Body.

Keep unsullied their lips, daily purpled with Thy Precious Blood. 

Keep pure and unearthly their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of the priesthood.

Let Thy holy love surround them and shield them from the world's contagion. 

Bless their labours with abundant fruit and may the souls to whom they minister be their joy and consolation here and in heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen. 

Guardian Angel of Portugal appears to the 3 Children of Fatima in 1916

The Holy Guardian Angel of Portugal appears to the 3 Children of Fatima in 1916 to prepare them for Mother Mary's visits in 1917. Here is a short compilation of the prayers he taught the 3 children, Lucia, Jacintha and Francisco to pray. He knelt with the children and showed them with what devotion they ought to pray and adore Our Lord Jesus Christ. Reparation, we need to make of everything we can think of, a sacrifice. 

My God, I believe in Thee! I adore Thee! I hope in Thee, and I love Thee! I ask pardon of Thee for those who do not believe, do not adore, do not hope, and do not love Thee. (3 times)

Most Holy Trinity-Father, Son and Holy Ghost-I adore Thee profoundly, I offer Thee the Most Precious Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus Christ, present in all the tabernacles of the world, in reparation for the outrages, sacrileges and indifference by which He is offended. And through the infinite merits of His Most Sacred Heart, and the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I beg of Thee the conversion of poor sinners.

Make of everything you can a sacrifice, and offer it to God as an act of reparation for the sins by which He is offended and as a petition for the conversion of sinners. Bring peace to your country this way.

Affections of Love towards the Heart of Jesus

This was written by St. Alphonsus, but remained unpublished till 1875. 


O amiable Heart of my Saviour! Thou art the seat of all virtues, the source of all graces, the burning furnace in which are inflamed all holy souls. Thou art the object of all God’s love; thou art the refuge of the afflicted, and the abode of the souls that love thee, O Heart worthy of reigning over all hearts, and of possessing the affection of all hearts! 

O Heart that was wounded for me on the Cross by the lance of my sins, and that remained afterwards continually wounded for me on the altar in the Blessed Sacrament, but not by any other lance than that of the love that thou entertainest for me! O loving Heart, that loves men with so much tenderness, and that is so little loved by men! Do thou apply a remedy to so great an ingratitude, inflame thou our hearts with a true love for thee. Ah! Why can I not go all over the world to make known the graces, the sweetness, the treasures that thou dispensest to those who truly love Thee? 

Accept the desire that I have of seeing all hearts burning with love for thee. O Divine Heart! Be Thou my consolation in trials, my repose in labours, my solace in anxieties, my haven in tempests. I consecrate Thee my body and my soul, my heart and my life, together with all that I am. I unite to Thine all my thoughts, all my affections, all my desires. 

O Eternal Father! I offer Thee the pure affections of the Heart of Jesus. If Thou dost reject mine, Thou canst not reject those of Thy Son, who is sanctity itself; may they supply what is wanting in me, and may they render me pleasing in Thy eyes!
