Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Dear members of the Society, dear readers,
With joy we inaugurate a new spiritual practice that will be dedicated especially to the Blessed Virgin. We will do this on May 13, the anniversary of the first apparition of Our Lady in Fatima, and during this year when we will celebrate the 35th anniversary of the consecration of the Society of Saint Pius X to the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, which Abp. Marcel Lefebvre performed in Ecône on December 8, 1984. This twofold commemoration, however must not remain a pious memory, a bit sentimental and pleasant, of course, but without any effect on our spiritual life.
The reason for the existence of this new practice is to reawaken our souls, to rekindle our fervor, and to remind us vividly of the total dependence of the Society of Saint Pius X on Our Lady.
I wish to encourage you to read and to meditate on this consecration. The words pronounced by our founder were well-aimed and still have a burning relevance: the errors denounced in them certainly have not disappeared. On the contrary, they have grown and multiplied like cancer cells; they have gained ground and seem to have invaded the whole public square. My intention is not to make a negative, discouraging observation, as though everything that has been done was of no use. No, the battle continues as long as it has not been won; the struggle to drive out the sickness continues as long as there is any life. And we will fight as long as it takes, with the same weapons: recourse to the Virgin Mary, especially to her Immaculate Heart, the refuge of sinners and of combatants.
Our dear Society finds itself at the center of the storm which has always been raging against the Holy Church of Jesus Christ. If we do not want to perish or be overwhelmed in the middle of the sea and the waves of this world that has gone mad, then we must fix our sights and our hearts on the Woman who shines with such a pure light, the Morning Star who continually shows us the course to follow.
For these reasons, dear friends, dear readers, I can only encourage you to try to live out more and more the consecration that was performed almost 35 years ago. A consecration is not a pretty text that you read once or on each anniversary and can let yourself forget afterward. It is a practical, concrete commitment in everyday life. It is a humble, confident, imploring prayer. It is loving surrender, without reservations and without going back. Everything has been given and entrusted into the hands of the Queen of Heaven: all the members of the Society, its spiritual family, its properties, its houses, the souls of all the faithful and its entire apostolate which is carried on throughout the world. “Our Society is your domain,” the text proclaims. May this not be mere words, but rather an ever more living reality. This is the hope that I formulate and address to Heaven.
Every Saturday and on every feast day of the Blessed Virgin, you will find a new text to help you along these lines. Be generous and faithful in reading them and meditating on them so as to put them into practice. Only She who is without sin can preserve us from error, blindness, and discouragement. If we think that we are strong, we will fall. But if, convinced of our weakness and fragility, we turn to Her, then She will open her motherly Heart to us, she will take us under her protection and will lead us safe and sound to the harbor of salvation.
                Don Davide Pagliarani

Society of St. Pius X consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

To thee, O Immaculate Mother of God, do we have recourse in this supreme hour of mankind’s need, amidst such storms indeed as have never been known, shaking Mother Church to her very foundations. Thou, who standing by the foot of the Cross, didst once share so closely in the sufferings of thy Divine Son, with what compassion art thou not moved today for the suffering of His Mystical Body, the Church!
Whilst outside the Church, Communism has so spread its errors in all directions that the Church herself is infected by them, at the same time within her very bosom the virus of a false ecumenism poisons souls without number, either tearing them away or keeping them outside of the unity of the true Faith and the one and only Ark of Salvation.
Amidst so many ruins, so many betrayals, may it please Almighty God, following an ancient example, to prepare this priestly society of ours, a small band of rebuilders, who being truly aware of their own frailty turn today to thee, Virgin most powerful Help of Christians. For distrusting in our own strength, so little before the magnitude of the task entrusted to us, we wish to place ourselves under thy motherly and powerful protection, O Virgin who art terrible as an army arrayed in battle, to whom from the beginning it was promised Thou wouldst tread upon the head of the serpent.
Amidst those dangers hanging over our heads, we beg and beseech God, Who has deigned to call us to the service of His Church, that He deign to seal and confirm our calling through thee, O Ark of the Covenant!
And so, O Immaculate Virgin, before thy throne of grace today we prostrate ourselves, and desiring to increase thy praise and glory so that to the filial love of Christ thy Son towards thee, O most sweet Mother of ours, we may here and now add our humble contribution to thee, beneath the most special title of thy Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart.
We irrevocably consecrate our Priestly Society of St. Pius X with its priests, seminarians, and brothers, sisters, oblates and tertiaries, with all its spiritual family.
In order that thou should be now the Lady and Queen of our Society and fraternity, by a perpetual donation into thy hands, we offer and we entrust our possessions and our homes that they may truly belong to thee: our bodies and also our souls, indeed, our whole selves we hand over and consecrate, that thou mayest ever have us ready at thy command.
The souls also entrusted to us we hand over to thee, that thou mayest guard them beneath thy motherly care. Finally, our apostolate we commend to thee, and we relinquish it that it may be wholly thine, O Queen of Apostles! Thus, Our Society is now wholly thy domain!
Hold it so firmly, O Tower of David, that it may never turn from the right path. O Virgin most faithful, keep every member most unshakably attached to it. Guard our faith virginally intact, O Virgin most pure, thou Who has received the power to crush all heresies throughout the entire world.
Keep for the Church, O thou who art Full of Grace, her Sacrifice of the Mass according to the ancient and venerable Roman rite, sure conveyor of grace, and to it keep us most faithful. Cause to flourish within us, O Queen of all Saints, the holiness of the priesthood, of religion, of the family. Guard, O Mother of Divine Grace, our Society as a fruitful and ever-living branch of the Holy Roman Catholic Church.
Obtain for us the grace, O Mother of the Church, whereby we may from day to day become in the hands of God an instrument more docile and more apt for the saving of the greatest number of souls. That we may know that thou hast heard our prayers, O Virgin most Clement, send us those many workers whom the Divine Lord of the Harvest calls into His mission-fields.
Grant us, finally, O Mother of the Sovereign High Priest, the grace by which to work for the restoration of the Catholic priesthood and thereby for the splendor of the priestly soul of Christ, illuminated by Whose rays may persons and families and nations at length obtain the establishing of His Kingdom.
Relying on our title of the Apostles of Jesus and Mary, we promise thee, O Queen of Martyrs and Confessors, that we shall labor until our last breath for the restoring of all things in Christ, for the spreading of His Kingdom, and for the preparing of the glorious triumph of thy Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Mary. Amen.

Blessed Imelda Lambertini - Her feast day used to be celebrated on May 12

Copied from Patron Saint of First Communicants by Mary Fabyan Windeatt

Blessed Imelda lived from 1322-1333, Pope Leo XII formally approved the veneration of Imelda as a Blessed on December 20, 1826, and granted the Dominican Order and the diocese of Bologna the privilege of a Mass and Office in her honor, Her feasts used to be celebrated on May 12 and September 16, although they are no longer officially observed.

Her relics lie in the little church of St. Sigismund in Bologna, In 1891 the Bishop of Carcassonne established a confraternity in honor of Blessed Imelda, known as “The Confraternity or Sodality of a Good First Communion and of Perseverance.” Pope Leo XII raised the Confraternity to the status of an Arch-confraternity, but this organization is now no longer active. Pope St. Pius X (1903-1914) declared Blessed Imelda the Patroness of First Communicants, (St. Tarsicius is the Patron of First Communicants.)

Something amazing that I needed to post this - May 12 (today!) is the feast of Blessed Imelda Lambertini :) Deo gratias et Mariae.

Blessed Imelda Lambertini, ora pro nobis

St Tarsicius, ora pro nobis

Please pray for M and K.

The Sorrowful Mysteries

The First Sorrowful Mystery

The Agony of our Blessed Lord in the Garden

In this first mystery, let us meditate on the untold sufferings and the shedding of the blood of Jesus to expiate the repeated and deliberate sins of mankind.

(Luke 22: 43-44, Matthew 26: 36-44)
Jesus teaches us the need of prayer especially in times of sorrow and distress.

Seeing before Him the great sufferings He has to undergo to free us from sin and death, Jesus prays to His Father to take away that cup of sufferings, be He adds – “not My will but Your will be done”.

In moments of trials and tribulations do I take refuge in prayer or do I lose heart and complain against God?

When everything seems to be dark and lost do I resign myself to the will of God and pray?

From the agony of Christ do I realise the gravity of sin and try to avoid sin and the occasions of sin?

Mary my Mother, help me to understand the gravity of sin. Let me always avoid sin and the occasions of sin.

The Second Sorrowful Mystery

The Third Sorrowful Mystery

The Fourth Sorrowful Mystery

The Fifth Sorrowful Mystery

It was purely coincidental but I thank God for it. I had the opportunity for a mini retreat like rosary while trying to get my kids to say the rosary after one Catechism class this weekend - usually it is not a time for a mini retreat but a time to stare at the children and remind them of rewards awaiting ... if they can say their Rosary properly [their attention spans!] ... It was in the chapel and I found a book on the rosary that I hadn't seen before. I love the questions!
