Novena to the Holy Infant Jesus of Beaune

Marguerite Parigot (of the Blessed Sacrament) gave a summary of her own spiritual life when she said, “We have to become very little like the Infant of Bethlehem in order to climb the summit of Mount Carmel, in the spirit of childhood.”

This novena is made from January 25th to February 2nd and also from the 16th to the 25th of each month, by reciting the following prayer:

Hail, O divine little King, who came down from the throne of Your glory to lead us back on the road to Heaven, from which we had strayed by sin, showing us by Your marvelous examples of poverty, humility, obedience, simplicity, and innocence what we should do to resemble You and to make ourselves agreeable to Your majesty.

To You alone, O Jesus, belongs all royalty. You are the King of glory who rose triumphantly back into Your heavenly kingdom, after accomplishing the mysteries of our salvation. You are also, and most of all, the King of our hearts, for that is Your domain of predilection: Your reign of love.

Ah! make it penetrate into every heart.

Your faithful servant Marguerite of the Blessed Sacrament, whom You chose as an image of Your holy childhood, also loved to give You this other title of King of Grace, for You are the source of all graces and You ask only to pour them abundantly over the earth. “Draw upon the merits of My holy childhood,” You said to her, “and nothing will be refused to you!” Strong with this beautiful promise, we come to You with all the confidence inspired in us by Your love, which has given us everything it has and now gives itself to us. We want to render You love for love.

Amen.

Simple dans ma virtue, Forte dans mon devoir!

New adventures begin for my little ones. Baby Jesus knows my heart and my prayers for them. And they are all yours, my Mother!

Simple dans ma virtue, Forte dans mon devoir!
worthy words to live up to and to wear! - that is the hope!

As we sat down and read her Student Planner 2020..., I was reminded of this, the hymn to Fr Barre. It was an integral part of my spiritual journey when I was a child growing up.

These words are beautiful!

O hear our prayer, most holy Father Barre
We are your children, watch o'er us we pray
Touch many hearts to follow in your footsteps
To delicate their lives to youth and poor

Drawn by the Lord to make Christ known and loved
Fill us with zeal, humility and faith

Pure love and strength and courage without fear
To keep your spirit alive in our hearts
