We need to pray for the Pope: Apostolic Journey to Germany

Our dear Papa, Pope Benedict XVI is on his way (back "home", nach Hause) to Germany where he will go on his Apostolic Journey to Germany.

This vatican.va link gives his scheduled programme for the few days (22/9 - 25/9).

I was reading this article (link here for the original article in German) named: The new culture war... It focused on pockets of opposition in Germany towards his scheduled journey to Germany. Here is the link to the google translated version of the article.

I have always known that AS ALWAYS, there ARE people who hate the Pope (to use the word 'hate' is appropriate as it shows you how much they really do not like who the Pope is and what he stands for)... BUT it really dawned on me - how much actually and how many groups of really modern people as well as others - really do not like the Pope. (and I am feeling very sad about it all, and decided to post here, to encourage YOU to pray constantly and always for the Pope, who faces much opposition, everywhere he goes)

A prayer for the Pope:

Oremus pro Pontifice nostro Benedictus (XVI)

Dominus conservet eum,
et vivificet eum,
et beatum faciat eum in terra et non tradat eum in animam inimicorum ejus.

V: Tu es Petrus.
R: Et super hanc petram aedificabo Ecclesiam meam.

Oremus.

Deus, omnium fidelium pastor et rector,
famulum tuum Benedictus (XVI),
quem pastorem Ecclesiae tuae praeesse voluisti,
propitius respice: daei,
quaesumus, verbo et exemplo,
quibus praeest, proficere; ut ad vitam,
una cum grege sibi credito,
perveniat sempiternam.

Per Christum Dominum nostrum.

Amen.

In English (A Translation)

Let us pray for our Sovereign Pontiff, Benedict XVI

May the Lord keep him and give him life,
may he make him blessed on earth,
and not allow him to be delivered into the power of his enemies.

V: Thou at Peter.
R: And upon this rock, I will build my Church.

Let us pray.

O God, the shepherd and guide of all the faithful,
look with favour on Thy servant, Benedict XVI,
whom Thou hast been pleased to place as pastor over Thy Church.
Grant him, we entreat Thee,
to help by word and example those over whom he rules,
so that,
together with the flock entrusted to him,
he may reach eternal life.

Through Christ, Our Lord.
Amen.
